Tracking vocals for metal?

ok so im just getting started with this band thing its my first personal experience with music and ive never realy arranged my lyrics to any type of songs so i was wondering what is the most efficient way to get a feel for puttin vocals to the guitars i have an idea but idk i hav the feeling i wont be very good with the timing of it so can anyone giv me some hints as to help me with this?
