Emotionally Abusive BF?

I KNOW that he is mentally abusive, we've been together 5 years and everyday he finds something else to yell at me about. We don't live together (he keeps puttin git off) and today he called me out of my name (AGAIN) because of some simple misunderstanding, seems I can't do anything right. How do I keep from going back to him when he calls me again? It seems that after I get happy from not dealing with him and his attitude, he comes back saying he is sorry and saying sorry doesn't work anymore because he keeps doing it. Please don't make fun. My feelings are really hurt :'(
