Is masturbating really a sin? even for jewish people?

i'm a 14 year old male and i masturbate every other day. a friend of mine who is some form of Christianity told me masturbating is a sin and that's why he doesn't do it. Now, i'm not christian i am Jewish so does this apply to all religions?
