How can I tell if this boy likes me?

So the past Friday there was the semi formal, I didn't have a date although I guy asked me but I said no because I didn't like him the way he liked me. Anyways his names robbie and he was puttin his arm around me giving me hugs, so we slow danced and we were close our bellys, and hips or idk touch , :) and e tickled my side hehe.. Then when semi was over he gave me a hug goodbye and my friends asked of we were goin out which we weren't we both looked at each other he didn't leave a response so neither did I, then everyone of my friends friends said we should go out and thought we were the cuteiest couple if we went out.. The next day he asked for my number, but I lost my phone and getting a new one, I'm in grade 8 he's in grade 6 age dosnt matter does it? (cougar) lol I wanna go out with him but I'm afraid he don't like me? What should I do ps he's gone for a couple days for a class trip..
